Dr. William J. Bonner was born and raised in the suburbs of Philadelphia, PA. He attended Georgetown University in Washington, DC where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physics with a minor in Mathematics. After college, he earned his Doctor of Medicine from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. He completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, and subsequently he completed Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the Temple University Hospital and Moss Rehab program in Philadelphia, PA where he was elected Chief Resident during his final year of training.
Following residency, he pursued a fellowship in Spine, Sports, and Musculoskeletal Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Bonner is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He is also board certified in Pain Medicine by the American Board of Pain Medicine.
Dr. Bonner moved to Miami, Florida in 2016 where he began treating patients. In his practice, he provides comprehensive, interventional spine and musculoskeletal care. He performs ultrasound-guided and fluoroscopically-guided interventional procedures for various causes of pain. He has taken a special interest in the exercise-based rehabilitation of spine and musculoskeletal injuries and uses his knowledge of these methods to provide patients with long term solutions to their ailments.
Dr. Bonner is a third-generation physician in a family with a long history of treating patients with Orthopedic injuries. His grandfather, Francis J. Bonner, MD, was a pioneer in the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. His father and four uncles were all Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specialists, and now Dr. Bonner and his brother Miles Bonner, DO are proud to carry on the family legacy.
I am a credentialed provider in the Regenexx network — the world’s most advanced organization in regenerative orthopedics. Regenexx is distinguished by proprietary lab processing protocols, rigorous provider credentialing standards, the largest patient outcome registry in regenerative orthopedics, and more published clinical research on PRP and BMAC procedures than any other single organization.
For patients evaluating regenerative medicine options in Miami, Regenexx affiliation is a meaningful quality signal. It reflects both procedural expertise and a commitment to evidence-based, outcomes-tracked care. Not all physicians who apply are accepted into the network — credentialing requires demonstration of advanced image-guided injection skills and adherence to strict protocols.
As part of this network, I offer Regenexx super-concentrated PRP — achieving up to 20x platelet concentration using proprietary lab processing — and BMAC bone marrow stem cell therapy using your own living cells concentrated the same day.
My specialty — Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R), also called physiatry — is the medical discipline most focused on the functional diagnosis and non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions. Unlike orthopedic surgery, which is primarily procedurally oriented, PM&R emphasizes understanding the whole patient, the biomechanical contributors to pain, and the integration of treatment with rehabilitation.
This background gives me a distinct advantage in regenerative medicine. I approach each patient not just as a target for an injection, but as someone whose pain has a specific anatomical source, functional context, and rehabilitation needs. The goal is never simply to reduce pain in the short term — it is to restore function, protect the affected tissue, and support long-term joint health.
My practice is exclusively focused on non-surgical diagnosis and treatment of musculoskeletal and spine conditions. I see patients for:
I evaluate and treat a wide range of conditions including:
